Customizing Search Results
Customizing Search Results
(and Epicor Tables)
Tired of Epicor’s search results having columns that are way too big, having to scroll for the information you need, or it not showing the information you need while showing you information that is not relevant to your work? This work instruction will show you how to set up your search results to show the information you want in the order you want it.

Section 1: Conducting a Search.
TIP: Epicor Kinetic uses % and _ as wildcards for searches.
For this demonstration I will be using a description search using Part Tracker.
From a window of your choice, start a part search using a partial part number or description.
After entering your search terms, click “Search.” The search results window will open.
Section 2: Reordering search Columns and Resizing.
In the search results window, identify the column you would like to resize. Move your curser to just left of the right boarder of the title of the column as shown below. You should see your curser change to an image with two lines flanked by two arrows pointing away from the lines. Click and hold while dragging the curser to the right if you wish to make a column larger or left to make it smaller.
If you wish to reorder the columns so you can have information important to you visible immediately, click and hold in the middle of the column you wish to move. When dragging the selected column over other columns, a box with a + and the column name will appear under the mouse. Epicor will drop the selected column immediately to the left of the column you are dragging the selected column over while the box shows a + and the mouse button is released.
Section 3: Removing Columns
Epicor’s search window displays a lot of information. Some of this information may not be relevant to your everyday tasks. To make life easier and information easier to sort through, let’s remove some of these columns.
With the search table still open, select the three dots in the upper right-hand corner of the table. This brings up a dropdown menu. Select “Personalize Columns.”
This brings up another search bar and a list of options to show in the search results. If the slider on the right is to the right and blue, that means it is currently shown in your search results. If the slider is to the left and grey, it is not currently shown. For this demo I have decided I don’t need “Search Word,” “Type,” or “Phantom BOM”. Selecting the slide on these rows will move the slider from the right to the left, deselecting them and removing them from my results.
Selecting “Save” in the bottom right will save this to your current search. As shown below “Search Word” and “Type” have been removed from my table (“Phantom BOM was as well but was shown farther to the right).
Section 4: Adding Columns
Just like removing columns, adding columns is done in the “Personalize Columns” window accessed through the three dots in the upper right-hand corner.
In this example I want to see if any of these parts were recently changed. In the “Personalize Columns” menu I search “Change.” The only result is “Changed On” so select the slider on the right setting it to the right.
Select “Save” to add to your results table. New columns are added to the far right, so you will need to find it using the slider on the bottom of the results table.
Follow the directions from Section 2 to move the column to your desired location.
Section 5: Saving Search Results Layout
To save your table layout so you see it whenever you search for something, Click the three dots in the upper right-hand corner of the table. Then select “Save Layout” to save the table layout.
Congratulations, your search layout is now saved! You will need to repeat this process for other types of searches like suppliers, where used results, or even the tables the trackers open with. Almost any table in Epicor Kinetic can be personalized.
